Black in Fashion Council x Soho Works

"The Black in Fashion Council hosted its inaugural networking event in West Hollywood in collaboration with Soho Works. This event served as a pivotal platform for fostering meaningful connections and discussions within the black fashion community.

One of the highlights of the event was an engaging panel discussion moderated by the accomplished journalist Leah Faye Cooper. The panel featured esteemed industry figures, namely Zerina Akers, Corey Stokes, and Alexander Armand. These individuals brought their wealth of experience to the forefront, making it an enlightening experience for attendees.

Zerina Akers, known for her influential work as a celebrity stylist, has played a pivotal role in shaping fashion trends and making a powerful impact on the industry with clients including Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, Chloe x Halle, and Karol G. Akers touched on the misconceptions of an over-glamorized industry. Corey Stokes, with his extensive background, has contributed significantly to the world of fashion and marketing and is SVP Creative at Essence Magazine. Stokes took pride in being with a publication that celebrates black women. Lastly, hairstylist Alexander Armand, whose gifted hands have touched stars such as Quinta Brunson, Serena Williams, and Naomi Campbell, uncovered the smoke and mirrors of the industry. Each panelist gave a unique perspective to the dialogue.

The event not only facilitated networking opportunities but also provided a platform for these prominent voices to share insights, discuss diversity and inclusion in the fashion world, and shed light on tips to break into the fashion industry. The Black In Fashion Counsel ended the night with a hosted dinner at Ardo weho within the weho Edition. The night was powered by Fred Segal and curated by With The Creators with specialty cocktails by Belvedere Vodka and Chandon. It represents a crucial step forward in promoting diversity, equity, and representation within the fashion sector, reinforcing the commitment of the Black in Fashion Council to bring about positive change and create a more inclusive fashion industry for all."
